Aragosta, Deer Isle Garden Party Wedding

You can't explain it to anyone, this place. You just can't. You have to feel it.  //  Jimmy Cook

This lovely little seaside celebration was one to remember.

I connected with Kate and Mike just two months shy of their intimate garden party-inspired wedding on Deer Isle. After seriously considering eloping on a cliff in Greece as the sun set, they realized that even though they didn’t want the fanfare of a traditional wedding, they still craved a magical experience that they could share with loved ones.

And magical it was. The stars finally aligned for me to photograph at the divine Aragosta at Goose Cove — a distinguished Downeast Maine haven with a sweeping panorama of rocky shoreline and quaint cottages tucked in evergreen.

The natural beauty and whimsy of the landscape lent itself as both a backdrop and narrative role in Kate and Mike’s celebration. Creating a seamless flow for their guests, they shared vows on the beach, enjoyed dinner and dancing al fresco on the restaurant decks, and ended the evening with a bonfire after-party back on the sand. (And those gorgeous greenhouses — swoon!)

It was a whirlwind planning experience for these two, but you wouldn’t know it witnessing Kate and Mike that day. Their energies were calm, their hearts wide open, and their spirits free.
